Fabrizio D’Amico, General Manager of Ecolamp, has been appointed as new President of EucoLight, the European association of WEEE compliance schemes, specialising in managing the collection and recycling of lighting WEEE.
D’Amico, who has succeeded Hervé Grimaud, declared:
“I am delighted to be able to contribute to a further step forward for EucoLight as new President of the board of the Association. On behalf of myself and of the other board members Tomáš Rychetský, Vice President, Gied van Hoorn, Secretary, Stephan Riemann, Treasurer, and Ourania Georgoutsakou, representing Lighting Europe, I want to thank everyone for the collaboration received and for what they will offer during this mandate. As President I’m motivated to maintain the solid direction of the organization and ready to push forward spirit and priorities which identified EucoLight until now”.
About the priorities and the role played by the association during these years, D’Amico added
“The Circular Economy Package and the Digital Services Act are milestones of the regulatory action of the European Union. In their developments EucoLight has been committed from the very first moment, as far as it could contribute, with the constant presence of the Secretary General, Marc Guiraud, of the previous presidents up to now, Juan Carlos Enrique and Hervé Grimaud, of all the staff members and all the experts, and with the contribution of the members and stakeholders who regularly follow our initiatives.”
Fabrizio D’Amico graduated in Political Science at the State University of Milan, with a post graduate course degree in Economics and Business Management of the SDA Bocconi School of Management of Milan.
He started his career as a profession al journalist for several Italian and foreign newspapers. After this experience he dedicated himself to corporate communication for the Italian Touring Club, the United Nations Organization for Industrial Development and the Regional Agency for the Protection of the Environment of Lombardy, with the role of President’s spokesperson.
He has dedicated the last 13 years of his professional life to the lighting WEEE recycling sector, as General Manager of the Italian consortium Ecolamp and as President of the Itali an WEEE Coordination Centre from 2014 to 2016.
He contributed to the founding of EucoLight in 2015 and held the position of Vice President in its first board. Subsequently, he continued to give his support to the growth of the association by taking part in numerous of its projects and promoting positions shared in Brussels also with the national institutions, to the mutual benefit at local and European level
